Number Of Bankruptcy Proceedings in Slovenia

The number of bankruptcies in Slovenia in the corporate sector increased further last year when compared to 2011 and 2012. According to the Slovenian Central Bank, the number of bankruptcies initiated amounted to 961 in 2013, 61% more than a year ago.
 
Share of non-performing loans among Slovenian banks increased in 2013 from 14.5% to 19.1% of total customer loans.
 
The banks’ exposure to firms in bankruptcy constitutes the largest risk of claims being lost or only partially repaid. The analysis covers firms in the sectors of non-financial corporations, OFIs and sole traders, but does not cover non-resident firms.
