UniCredit Bank Russia's non-performing loans reached 7.02% of total loans at the end of 2018, down from 7.29% compared to the previous year. Historically, the NPL ratio hit an all time high of 27.5% in 2009 and an all time low of 0.186% in 2007.

Provision coverage amounted to 87.1% at the end of 2018, up from 82.5% compared to a year earlier.

The bank created loan loss provisions worth of 1.35% of average loans in 2018. That's compared to 1.53% of loans the bank put aside to its cost on average in the last five years.

Comparing UniCredit Bank Russia with its closest peers, Sberbank operated at the end of 2018 with NPL ratio of 3.75% and provision coverage of 189%, VTB Bank with 5.70% and 112% respectively and Alfa Bank had 3.38% of bad loans covered with 86.0% by provisions at the end of 2018.
