Based on a comparison of 162 countries in 2015, China ranked the highest in expenditure of international tourism with USD 292,200 mil followed by USA and Germany. On the other end of the scale was Djibouti with USD 23.4 mil, Sierra Leone with USD 24.0 mil and Tajikistan with USD 25.0 mil.
Total expenditure of international tourism reached USD 1,371,214 mil in 2015 in the World according to Eurostat. This is 2.94 % less than in the previous year and 43.7 % more than 10 years ago.
Historically, total expenditure of international tourism reached an all time high of USD 1,411,495 mil in 2014 and an all time low of USD 462,353 mil in 1995. The average annual growth amounted to 5.59 % since 1995.
The top ranked country, China, accounted for 21.3 % of expenditure of international tourism in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 38.6 % share while the ten largest countries some 58.6 % in 2015.
