Based on a comparison of 13 countries in 2014, China ranked the highest in areca nut production with 132,158 kt followed by India and Taiwan. On the other end of the scale was Maldives with 0.003 kt, Kenya with 0.113 kt and Malaysia with 0.368 kt.
Average areca nut production reached 1,219 kt in 2014 in the World according to Faostat. This is 0.459 % less than in the previous year and 24.9 % more than 10 years ago.
Historically, average areca nut production reached an all time high of 1,341 kt in 2012 and an all time low of 185 kt in 1966. The average annual growth amounted to 3.33 % since 1961.
