Based on a comparison of 26 countries in 2014, India ranked the highest in buffalo hide production with 609,000 tonnes followed by Pakistan and China. On the other end of the scale was Bhutan with 6.84 tonnes, Brunei with 13.2 tonnes and Greece with 22.8 tonnes.
Total buffalo hide production reached 931,301 tonnes in 2014 in the World according to Faostat. This is 2.73 % less than in the previous year and 13.5 % more than 10 years ago.
Historically, total buffalo hide production reached an all time high of 956,771 tonnes in 2013 and an all time low of 314,407 tonnes in 1961. The average annual growth amounted to 2.07 % since 1961.
