Based on a comparison of 32 countries in 2014, Nigeria ranked the highest in cashew nut production with 894,368 tonnes followed by India and Ivory Coast. On the other end of the scale was Belize with 230 tonnes, China with 266 tonnes and Dominican Republic with 695 tonnes.
Total cashew nut production reached 4,377,571 tonnes in 2014 in the World according to Faostat. This is 1.43 % less than in the previous year and 33.3 % more than 10 years ago.
Historically, total cashew nut production reached an all time high of 4,439,960 tonnes in 2013 and an all time low of 287,535 tonnes in 1961. The average annual growth amounted to 5.27 % since 1961.
The top ranked country, Nigeria, accounted for 20.4 % of cashew nut production in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 49.8 % share while the ten largest countries some 75.9 % in 2014.
