Based on a comparison of 18 countries in 2014, Belgium ranked the highest in chicory root production with 309,187 tonnes followed by France and Netherlands. On the other end of the scale was Slovakia with 50.0 tonnes, Qatar with 95.0 tonnes and Bosnia and Herzegovina with 100 tonnes.
Total chicory root production reached 555,059 tonnes in 2014 in the World according to Faostat. This is 10.2 % more than in the previous year and -95.6 % less than 10 years ago.
Historically, total chicory root production reached an all time high of 1,085,684 tonnes in 2004 and an all time low of 190,070 tonnes in 1972. The average annual growth amounted to 1.11 % since 1961.
