Based on a comparison of 83 countries in 2014, China ranked the highest in eggplant production with 29,490 kt followed by India and Egypt. On the other end of the scale was Djibouti with 0.052 kt, Costa Rica with 0.088 kt and Gabon with 0.213 kt.
Total eggplant production reached 46,674 kt in 2014 in the World according to Faostat. This is 5.88 % less than in the previous year and 33.6 % more than 10 years ago.
Historically, total eggplant production reached an all time high of 49,418 kt in 2013 and an all time low of 5,895 kt in 1964. The average annual growth amounted to 3.64 % since 1961.
The top ranked country, China, accounted for 63.2 % of eggplant production in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 94.9 % share while the ten largest countries some 102 % in 2014.
