Based on a comparison of 18 countries in 2021, France ranked the highest in flax fibre and tow production with 678,390 tonnes followed by Belgium and Belarus. On the other end of the scale was Turkey with 6.00 tonnes, Spain with 10.0 tonnes and Ukraine with 35.2 tonnes.

Total flax fibre and tow production reached 896,636 tonnes in 2021 in the World according to Faostat. This is 8.72 % less than in the previous year and 45.9 % more than 10 years ago.
