Based on a comparison of 69 countries in 2014, China ranked the highest in grapefruit production with 3,702,150 tonnes followed by USA and Vietnam. On the other end of the scale was Malta with 7.00 tonnes, Cameroon with 98.0 tonnes and Iraq with 217 tonnes.
Total grapefruit production reached 7,994,880 tonnes in 2014 in the World according to Faostat. This is 5.74 % less than in the previous year and 31.9 % more than 10 years ago.
Historically, total grapefruit production reached an all time high of 8,453,446 tonnes in 2013 and an all time low of 1,910,557 tonnes in 1963. The average annual growth amounted to 2.50 % since 1961.
The top ranked country, China, accounted for 46.3 % of grapefruit production in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 64.0 % share while the ten largest countries some 88.9 % in 2014.
