Based on a comparison of 107 countries in 2014, China ranked the highest in groundnut production with 16,423 kt followed by India and Nigeria. On the other end of the scale was Hungary with 0.013 kt, Georgia with 0.025 kt and Portugal with 0.032 kt.
Total groundnut production reached 40,524 kt in 2014 in the World according to Faostat. This is 11.6 % less than in the previous year and 10.1 % more than 10 years ago.
Historically, total groundnut production reached an all time high of 45,225 kt in 2013 and an all time low of 14,134 kt in 1961. The average annual growth amounted to 2.01 % since 1961.
The top ranked country, China, accounted for 40.5 % of groundnut production in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 62.4 % share while the ten largest countries some 82.4 % in 2014.
