Based on a comparison of 127 countries in 2014, China ranked the highest in natural honey production with 462,028 tonnes followed by Turkey and USA. On the other end of the scale was Cayman Islands with 10.0 tonnes, Puerto Rico with 11.0 tonnes and Suriname with 23.0 tonnes.
Total natural honey production reached 1,615,421 tonnes in 2014 in the World according to Faostat. This is 2.99 % less than in the previous year and 15.5 % more than 10 years ago.
Historically, total natural honey production reached an all time high of 1,663,798 tonnes in 2013 and an all time low of 678,759 tonnes in 1961. The average annual growth amounted to 1.65 % since 1961.
The top ranked country, China, accounted for 28.6 % of natural honey production in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 40.0 % share while the ten largest countries some 68.5 % in 2014.
