Which Country Produces the Most Millet?

Based on a comparison of 74 countries in 2022, India ranked the highest in millet production with 11,849 kt followed by Niger and China. On the other end of the scale was Maldives with 0.005 kt, Moldova with 0.010 kt and Macedonia with 0.033 kt.

Total millet production reached 30,860 kt in 2022 in the World according to Faostat. This is 4.19 % more than in the previous year and 13.5 % more than 10 years ago.

Historically, total millet production reached an all time high of 34,820 kt in 2003 and an all time low of 23,308 kt in 1965. The average annual growth amounted to 0.299 % since 1961.

The top ranked country, India, accounted for 38.4 % of millet production in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 59.0 % share while the ten largest countries some 89.2 % in 2022.
