Based on a comparison of 75 countries in 2014, Costa Rica ranked the highest in pineapple production with 2,916 kt followed by Brazil and Philippines. On the other end of the scale was Seychelles with 0.031 kt, Zimbabwe with 0.135 kt and East Timor with 0.180 kt.
Total pineapple production reached 23,518 kt in 2014 in the World according to Faostat. This is 5.39 % less than in the previous year and 28.4 % more than 10 years ago.
Historically, total pineapple production reached an all time high of 24,786 kt in 2013 and an all time low of 3,832 kt in 1961. The average annual growth amounted to 3.48 % since 1961.
The top ranked country, Costa Rica, accounted for 12.4 % of pineapple production in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 34.3 % share while the ten largest countries some 76.2 % in 2014.
