Based on a comparison of 61 countries in 2014, Germany ranked the highest in rye production with 3,854 kt followed by Russia and Poland. On the other end of the scale was South Korea with 0.005 kt, Mexico with 0.014 kt and Kyrgyzstan with 0.043 kt.
Total rye production reached 13,816 kt in 2014 in the World according to Faostat. This is 20.8 % less than in the previous year and -28.1 % less than 10 years ago.
Historically, total rye production reached an all time high of 38,194 kt in 1990 and an all time low of 11,961 kt in 2010. The average annual growth amounted to -1.74 % since 1961.
The top ranked country, Germany, accounted for 27.9 % of rye production in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 71.9 % share while the ten largest countries some 96.2 % in 2014.
