Based on a comparison of 76 countries in 2014, China ranked the highest in fresh sheep milk production with 1,537,706 tonnes followed by Turkey and Greece. On the other end of the scale was Bahrain with 141 tonnes, Kuwait with 153 tonnes and Poland with 360 tonnes.
Total fresh sheep milk production reached 9,930,962 tonnes in 2014 in the World according to Faostat. This is 2.08 % less than in the previous year and 11.2 % more than 10 years ago.
Historically, total fresh sheep milk production reached an all time high of 10,137,749 tonnes in 2013 and an all time low of 5,087,000 tonnes in 1962. The average annual growth amounted to 1.27 % since 1961.
The top ranked country, China, accounted for 15.5 % of fresh sheep milk production in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 34.5 % share while the ten largest countries some 71.5 % in 2014.
