Based on a comparison of 54 countries in 2014, China ranked the highest in walnut production with 1,602,373 tonnes followed by USA and Iran. On the other end of the scale was Slovakia with 5.00 tonnes, Luxembourg with 26.0 tonnes and Cyprus with 105 tonnes.
Total walnut production reached 3,366,782 tonnes in 2014 in the World according to Faostat. This is 2.71 % less than in the previous year and 53.6 % more than 10 years ago.
Historically, total walnut production reached an all time high of 3,458,046 tonnes in 2013 and an all time low of 497,077 tonnes in 1961. The average annual growth amounted to 3.68 % since 1961.
The top ranked country, China, accounted for 47.6 % of walnut production in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 76.2 % share while the ten largest countries some 93.7 % in 2014.
