Which Country Produces the Most Watermelons?

Based on a comparison of 108 countries in 2022, China ranked the highest in watermelon production with 60,386 kt followed by Turkey and India. On the other end of the scale was Netherlands with 0.010 kt, Djibouti with 0.068 kt and Bhutan with 0.094 kt.

Total watermelon production reached 99,958 kt in 2022 in the World according to Faostat. This is 2.21 % less than in the previous year and 3.77 % more than 10 years ago.

Historically, total watermelon production reached an all time high of 102,392 kt in 2016 and an all time low of 17,847 kt in 1961. The average annual growth amounted to 2.86 % since 1961.

The top ranked country, China, accounted for 60.4 % of watermelon production in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 67.1 % share while the ten largest countries some 78.7 % in 2022.
