Based on a comparison of 31 countries in 2012, China ranked the highest in production of buses with 169 '000 followed by India and Brazil. On the other end of the scale was Portugal with 0.005 '000, Venezuela with 0.064 '000 and Hungary with 0.130 '000.
Total production of buses reached 342 '000 in 2012 in the World according to ACEA. This is 2.21 % less than in the previous year and 43.7 % more than 10 years ago.
Historically, total production of buses reached an all time high of 703 '000 in 2008 and an all time low of 140 '000 in 1999. The average annual growth amounted to 7.14 % since 1960.
The top ranked country, China, accounted for 49.4 % of production of buses in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 75.7 % share while the ten largest countries some 98.7 % in 2012.
