Based on a comparison of 22 countries in 2016, France ranked the highest in gross human consumption of wine with 28,786 1,000 hl followed by Italy and Germany. On the other end of the scale was Malta with 78.4 1,000 hl, Latvia with 160 1,000 hl and Estonia with 185 1,000 hl.
