Based on a comparison of 35 countries in 2015, China ranked the highest in lignite coal production as a share of worldwide production with 0.208% followed by Germany and Russia. On the other end of the scale was Malaysia with < 0.001%, New Zealand with < 0.001% and Myanmar with < 0.001%.
