Based on a comparison of 7 countries in 2005, Romania ranked the highest in number of sheep herd holders with milk ewes and milk ewe lambs put to the ram with 517 '000 followed by Bulgaria and France. On the other end of the scale was Malta with 1.00 '000, Cyprus with 2.00 '000 and Hungary with 2.00 '000.
