The report describes the key trends in the Bulgarian banking sector regarding the level of penetration of key products and services, growth prospects and profitability, or developments in banks' asset quality and level of competition, for example. Most of the key statistics are presented in comparison with other CEE countries and more developed economies. In more detail, you can find interesting statistics regarding mortgage lending, for example (including data on the volume of loans, their average size or interest rate, the average loan-to-value ratio, or how many households do have a mortgage). In the banking infrastructure section, we will describe how many banks operate on the market, with how many ATMs, branches, payment cards, and employees, all in both absolute terms as well as relatively in comparison to population or other countries. Last, you will see a complete set of financial accounts of the banking system, including a balance sheet (with a detailed loan and deposit breakdown), profit and loss statement, and a summary of basic ratios describing profitability (ROE, ROA), efficiency (Cost-to-Income or Assets), margins (interest spreads, margins), or asset quality (NPL ratio, provision coverage).
