Russia in Political and Economic Country Ratings

This issue discusses Russia's standing in international comparisons of democracy, rule of law and civil rights. The authors analyze Russia's position in the Freedom House Annual Survey of Political Rights and Civil Liberties as well as in the Bertelsmann Transformation Index (BTI) and provide background information on both measurements.
