Russian Foreign Economic Policy

Language: English
Provider: Russian Analytical Digest
Pages: 24
This special issue on Russia's Foreign Economic Relations was developed by teams of American and Russian authors working under the aegis of the Yegor Gaidar Fellowship Program in Economics. In the first article, Ksenia Kushkina and Edward Chow consider the opportunities for Russia to export gas to China, concluding that Russian, and other foreign, companies should be careful about overly optimistic expectations for doing business in China's dynamic market. In the second article, Viacheslav Evseev and Ross Wilson analyse the positive and negative impacts of World Trade Organization accession on the Russian economy. In the third article, Konstantin Borisov and Timothy Frye examine the various foreign trade policies of Russia and the United States in comparative perspective, paying particular attention to the ways that their governments and non-governmental sectors seek to support investment.
