Historically, almond production in Afghanistan reached an all time high of 62,000 tonnes in 2012 and an all time low of 8,000 tonnes in 1981. When compared to Afghanistan's main peers, almond production in Iran amounted to 139,029 tonnes, 20,615 tonnes in Pakistan, 3,273 tonnes in Tajikistan and 1,084 tonnes in Turkmenistan in 2018.
