Bank of China's non-performing loans reached 1.43% of total loans at the end of 2018, down from 1.48% compared to the previous year. Historically, the NPL ratio hit an all time high of 4.04% in 2006 and an all time low of 0.970% in 2012.
Provision coverage amounted to 179% at the end of 2018, up from 157% compared to a year earlier.
The bank created loan loss provisions worth of 0.974% of average loans in 2018. That's compared to 0.794% of loans the bank put aside to its cost on average in the last five years.
