Bank tier 1 ratio reached 17.7 % in second quarter of 2019 in Panama, according to the National Central Bank. This is 1.28 % less than in the previous quarter.

Historically, bank tier 1 ratio in Panama reached an all time high of 19.0 % in second quarter of 2005 and an all time low of 13.2 % in fourth quarter of 2007. When compared to Panama's main peers, bank tier 1 ratio in Colombia amounted to 12.9 %, 13.5 % in Costa Rica, 9.11 % in Honduras and 11.5 % in Nicaragua in second quarter of 2019.

Panama has been ranked 31st within the group of 93 countries we follow in terms of bank tier 1 ratio, 12 places behind the position seen 10 years ago.
