Banks' RWA rose 1.17% to MYR 1,542 bil in Malaysia in fourth quarter of 2016

Banks' risk-weighted assets reached 1,542 MYR bil in fourth quarter of 2016 in Malaysia, according to the National Central Bank. This is 1.17 % more than in the previous quarter.

Historically, banks' risk-weighted assets in Malaysia reached an all time high of 1,555 MYR bil in third quarter of 2015 and an all time low of 637 MYR bil in fourth quarter of 2005. When compared to Malaysia's main peers, banks' risk-weighted assets in Cambodia amounted to 78,430 KHR bil, 692 SGD bil in Singapore, 11,832 THB bil in Thailand and 4,862,315 VND bil in Vietnam in fourth quarter of 2016.

Malaysia has been ranked 41st within the group of 88 countries we follow in terms of banks' risk-weighted assets, 29 places behind the position seen 10 years ago.
