Czech banks are one of the healtiest and most profitable in the world. When preparing an update on the 3rd quarter performance of Czech banks, we have made a simple comparison of the Czech banks with their peers. The picture (four of them, actually) remains pretty good:
- Czech banks are one of the most profitable in the world (with ROE of 14.2% in 2009-2013)
- they are well equiped for the future growth (loans at 65% of GDP only, deposits accounting for 75% of loans and capital adequacy at over 17% as of the end of 2013)
- risk is well-managed (NPLs at 5.2%) and banks remain cost-efficient (costs to income at 43%) in 2013
