Daily Newspaper Circulation

Each day, more than half the world’s adult population read a daily newspaper: 2.5 billion in print and more than 800 million in digital form.

The newspaper industry generates over US$ 160 billion of revenue globally from content sales, advertising revenues and increasingly other forms of diversified revenue streams, according to the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers.

As the Economist point out a few years ago, "Like the sun, newspaper circulation rises in the east and falls in the west".
