Exports of services as a part of balance of payment reached 7.14 USD bil in 2016 in Sri Lanka, according to the National Statistical Office. This is 8.01 % less than in the previous year.
Historically, exports of services as a part of balance of payment in Sri Lanka reached an all time high of 7.76 USD bil in 2017 and an all time low of 0.073 USD bil in 1976. When compared to Sri Lanka's main peers, exports of services as a part of balance of payment in India amounted to 162 USD bil, 35.6 USD bil in Malaysia, 2.89 USD bil in Maldives and 3.80 USD bil in Myanmar in 2016.
Sri Lanka has been ranked 65th within the group of 156 countries we follow in terms of exports of services as a part of balance of payment, 20 places above the position seen 10 years ago.
Services (previously non-factor services) refer to the economic output of intangible commodities that may be produced, transferred and consumed at the same time.
