Foreign debt reached 14,434 USD bil in 2016 in Myanmar, according to the National Statistical Office. This is 10.6 % less than in the previous year.

Historically, foreign debt in Myanmar reached an all time high of 16,139 USD bil in 2017 and an all time low of 55.3 USD bil in 1970. When compared to Myanmar's main peers, foreign debt in China amounted to 1,415,801 USD bil, 455,550 USD bil in India, 13,524 USD bil in Laos and 121,497 USD bil in Thailand in 2016.
