Foreign trade as a share of GDP reached 125 % in 2017 in Macedonia, according to the National Statistical Office. This is 7.22 % more than in the previous year.

Historically, foreign trade as a share of GDP in Macedonia reached an all time high of 125 % in 2017 and an all time low of 46.4 % in 1991. When compared to Macedonia's main peers, foreign trade as a share of GDP in Albania amounted to 78.1 %, 131 % in Bulgaria, 67.0 % in Greece and 79.2 % in Kosovo in 2017.
