Government expenditure as a share of GDP rose 13.2% to 46.9% in Ukraine in 2020, according to the National Statistical Office.

Historically, government expenditure as a share of GDP in Ukraine reached an all time high of 49.2% in 2010 and an all time low of 25.8% in 1999. When compared to Ukraine's main peers, government expenditure as a share of GDP in Poland amounted to 51.2%, 38.6% in Romania and 37.3% in Russia in 2020.
