Historically, government revenue as a share of GDP in Costa Rica reached an all time high of 15.8% in 2021 and an all time low of 11.6% in 1991. When compared to Costa Rica's main peers, government revenue as a share of GDP in Guatemala amounted to 12.3%, 27.4% in Honduras, 26.3% in Nicaragua and 19.7% in Panama in 2022.
