Hard coal production fell 63.4% to 1,998 kt in Mozambique in 2015, according to the National Statistical Office.

Historically, hard coal production in Mozambique reached an all time high of 5,456 kt in 2014 and an all time low of 3.31 kt in 2005. When compared to Mozambique's main peers, hard coal production in Malawi amounted to 82.9 kt, 253,627 kt in South Africa, 282 kt in Tanzania and 220 kt in Zambia in 2015.
