Based on a comparison of 171 countries in 2019, Brazil ranked the highest in time to prepare and pay taxes with 1,501 hours followed by Bolivia and Venezuela. On the other end of the scale was Bahrain with 22.5 hours, Hong Kong with 34.5 hours and Qatar with 41.0 hours.

Average time to prepare and pay taxes reached 233 hours in 2019 in the World according to the National Statistical Office. This is 0.72 % less than in the previous year and -12.7 % less than 10 years ago.

Historically, average time to prepare and pay taxes reached an all time high of 302 hours in 2005 and an all time low of 233 hours in 2019. The average annual growth amounted to -1.82 % since 2005.
