Idea Bank's non-performing loans reached 7.98% of total loans at the end of 2017, up from 7.86% compared to the previous year. Historically, the NPL ratio hit an all time high of 7.98% in 2017 and an all time low of 3.46% in 2012.

Provision coverage amounted to 41.4% at the end of 2017, up from 38.9% compared to a year earlier.

The bank created loan loss provisions worth of 2.14% of average loans in 2017. That's compared to 1.87% of loans the bank put aside to its cost on average in the last five years.

Comparing Idea Bank with its closest peers, Alior Bank operated at the end of 2017 with NPL ratio of 10.8% and provision coverage of 100%, Getin Holding with 9.74% and 66.9% respectively and Getin Noble Bank had 15.8% of bad loans covered with 44.2% by provisions at the end of 2017.
