Based on a comparison of 19 banks in Russia in 2017, Sberbank generated the largest revenues, followed by VTB Bank and Gazprombank.

Sberbank reported total revenues of RUB 1,963,400 mil, up 7.21% compared to the previous year. Historically, the bank’s revenues containing of interest, fee and other non-interest income reached an all time high of RUB 1,963,400 mil in 2017 and an all time low of RUB 75,986 mil in 1995. The average revenue in the last five years amounted to RUB 1,580,340 mil.

Bank's total revenues accounted for 7.24% of total assets in 2017, up from 7.22% a year earlier.

Comparing Sberbank with its closest peers, VTB Bank generated total revenues of RUB 746,600 mil, or 5.74% of assets in 2017, Gazprombank operated with RUB 153,946 mil total income, or 2.78% revenue margin and Alfa Bank produced total income worth RUB 137,423 mil, or 5.33% of assets.

Russian banking sector generated total revenues of RUB 10,903,149 mil in 2017, down 16.9% when compared to the previous year. As a result, the top ranked company - Sberbank accounted for 18.0% of the sector’s total income in 2017. The top 3 companies held a 26.3% share while the five largest firms some 28.4% in 2017.
