Historically, expenditure of international tourism in Japan reached an all time high of USD 48,175 mil in 2004 and an all time low of USD 18,177 mil in 2017. When compared to Japan's main peers, expenditure of international tourism in China amounted to USD 257,733 mil, USD 35,585 mil in Russia, USD 33,354 mil in South Korea and USD 173,919 mil in USA in 2017.
Japan has been ranked 20th within the group of 145 countries we follow in terms of expenditure of international tourism, 15 places below the position seen 10 years ago.
