Historically, life expectancy for both sexes in Iraq reached an all time high of 71.6 years in 2019 and an all time low of 37.9 years in 1955. When compared to Iraq's main peers, life expectancy for both sexes in Iran amounted to 75.2 years, 74.7 years in Kuwait, 76.4 years in Saudi Arabia and 75.4 years in Syria in 2022.
