Merchandise trade as a share of GDP reached 28.2 % in 2017 in India, according to the National Statistical Office. This is 3.31 % more than in the previous year.

Historically, merchandise trade as a share of GDP in India reached an all time high of 43.0 % in 2012 and an all time low of 6.54 % in 1972.
