Českomoravská Stavební Spořitelna (ČMSS) is the dominant leader of the building savings market in the Czech Republic. At the end of 2012, the Bank had a 43.6% share on the market of building loans and 35.1% of total building savings deposits.

As the Government cut the subsidy on deposits and the business got under increased pressure from the pure mortgage lending, building savings become less attractive. From 2003, the number of contracts of building savings (both deposit and loan contracts) dropped from nearly 2.5 mil to some 1.8 mil in 2012.

On the other hand, the average size of the contract continues to rise.
