Non-performing loans reached 2.18 MVR bil in fourth quarter of 2016 in Maldives, according to the National Central Bank. This is 2.94 % more than in the previous quarter.

Historically, non-performing loans in Maldives reached an all time high of 3.62 MVR bil in second quarter of 2012 and an all time low of 2.11 MVR bil in third quarter of 2016. When compared to Maldives's main peers, non-performing loans in India amounted to 7,583 INR bil, 128,229 IDR bil in Indonesia and 146 SKR bil in Sri Lanka in fourth quarter of 2016.
