Number of prisoners reached 3,488 persons in 2015 in Sierra Leone, according to the United Nations. This is 3.19 % less than in the previous year.

Historically, number of prisoners in Sierra Leone reached an all time high of 3,603 persons in 2014 and an all time low of 1,400 persons in 2004. When compared to Sierra Leone's main peers, number of prisoners in Burkina Faso amounted to 7,544 persons and 2,104 persons in Liberia in 2015.
