Number of prisoners reached 18,560 persons in 2015 in Zambia, according to the United Nations. This is 8.93 % more than in the previous year.

Historically, number of prisoners in Zambia reached an all time high of 18,560 persons in 2015 and an all time low of 13,200 persons in 2003. When compared to Zambia's main peers, number of prisoners in Angola amounted to 24,165 persons, 34,404 persons in Tanzania, 18,857 persons in Zimbabwe and 20,550 persons in Dem. Republic of the Congo in 2015.
