Patent applications of residents reached 993 in 2016 in Kazakhstan, according to World Bank. This is 21.9 % less than in the previous year.

Historically, patent applications of residents in Kazakhstan reached an all time high of 3,223 in 1993 and an all time low of 433 in 1992. When compared to Kazakhstan's main peers, patent applications of residents in China amounted to 1,204,981, 84.0 in Kyrgyzstan, 26,795 in Russia and 353 in Uzbekistan in 2016.
