Patent applications of residents reached 95.0 in 2016 in Latvia, according to World Bank. This is 30.1 % less than in the previous year.

Historically, patent applications of residents in Latvia reached an all time high of 240 in 2009 and an all time low of 73.0 in 1992. When compared to Latvia's main peers, patent applications of residents in Belarus amounted to 455, 29.0 in Estonia, 95.0 in Lithuania and 26,795 in Russia in 2016.
