Petroleum consumption as a share of worldwide consumption fell 0.530% to 13.5% in the European Union in 2015, according to EIA.

Historically, petroleum consumption as a share of worldwide consumption in the European Union reached an all time high of 23.6% in 1980 and an all time low of 13.5% in 2015. When compared to European Union's main peers, petroleum consumption as a share of worldwide consumption in China amounted to 13.0%, 4.32% in Japan, 3.68% in Russia and 20.5% in USA in 2015.
